Retinoids - Everything You Need To Know!

Retinoids - Everything You Need To Know!

You might be trying your luck with vitamin C serum and glycolic acid to experience that flawless, younger-looking skin. However, when it comes to trying retinol, even an experienced beauty enthusiast has second thoughts. A derivative of Vitamin A, retinol belongs to the chemical compound family of retinoids, available in multiple potencies, reacting differently to the skin texture in terms of their strength.

It is always recommended to see your derma before you try a retinoid on your skin, but you do not have to fret as we bring you all the information you need before you get your hands on this active ingredient.

Types of Retinoids

Not all retinoids work the same way, the potency makes them different. They are natural and synthetic Vitamin A equivalents with numerous derivatives ranging from weakest to the strongest. There are seven types of retinoids, Retinyl palmitate, retinol, retinaldehyde, adapalene, tretinoin, tazarotene, and a newly-approved trifarotene.

The weaker types of retinoids, until you reach adapalene are great for boosting collagen production, fine lines, and skin renewal. On the other hand, from adapalene onwards, they offer an added advantage in treating acne. Retinoids effectively increase cell turnover, reduce comedones and skin discoloration while minimizing the appearance of fine lines, dark spots, and wrinkles.

How do They work?

Now you know it is a Vitamin A derivative and works by neutralizing free radicals in the skin texture and damaging collagen production. Collagen is important for youthful-looking skin. As you age, the body begins to create less collagen and elastin and breaks down fat stores. This results in sagging skin and aging signs. Retinoids help you fill in or reduce the appearance of signs of aging and effectively improves skin’s texture, hydration level, tone, and age spots.

If you’re still tinkering with a question about which retinoid is right for you, then we suggest using a clean alternative to experience glowing, younger-looking skin naturally. Our retinoids-based products are a natural derivative of Vitamin A to help you with fine lines and acne-free skin.
