“Vilamel”, a blend of lavender, lemon and ylang ylang is named for my grandparents house in Saligao, where I spent many weekends and holidays, sitting on their Balcão, in the early morning or late evening, birdsong in the trees, chai in hand, watching the sky change colour. The lavender sachets that scented all the cupboards.
