Say Goodbye to shiny-face with these beauty tips

Shiny-face isn’t a welcomed skin situation and we all have struggled with it at some point or the other, especially during summers. Excessive shine on the face is only good when it’s topical and intentional, not when it comes via oil glands.

Oil can cover your face at any time of the day, irrespective of the occasion and that is not a pleasant thing at all. Just as much as you hate it, we are dedicated to helping you learn tricks that will solve the problem for you. Following are some tips that will let you shun shine effectively.

 

1.Cut back on spices and alcohol

Consumption of spicy food and alcohol may raise your body’s temperature, activating the sweat glands which triggers oil production. These dietary intakes may cause you to have oilier skin at the wrong time and regular perspiration may worsen the situation. So cut back and limit your spices and alcohol consumption for the sake of your face.

 

2.Say no to rich & heavy facial products.

Intense and rich formulas tend to film the skin for hydrating purposes but heavier the formula, greasier the skin. Oily skin is already accustomed to producing more sebum and clogging the pores with intense products is not a good idea in the case. To stay shine-free, replace your rich products with light-weight and absorbent lotions that are hydrating enough but not heavy on the skin.

 

3.Befriend toners

Finding the right toner may be difficult but we assure you, once found, it can do wonders. Toners do not only absorb the excess oil but also balances the pH level of the skin that may be disturbed due to skin’s exposure to harsh chemicals, free radicals, and pollutants. A toner is the ultimate regulator of oil production if used regularly and religiously.

 

4.Exfoliator + Clay Mask = Bye Bye Shine

No, we do not mean scrubbing every day. Exfoliation is a good way to get rid of the dead skin, cleansing and loosening the pores and letting your skin breathe. Exfoliating once or twice a week can also prevent acne as it unclogs the pores and removes the dirt and excessive sebum, responsible for the breakouts.

Apply a good clay mask on your exfoliated and cleansed skin. Clay masks are a great way to draw out any stubborn impurities. They also calm down any acne/zit that might be preparing to pop up.

 

5.Blot, blot, blot!

No product is a genie and overnight results are an unrealistic expectation. So until your skin type gets better, carry organic and gentle blotting paper with you. Keep tapping the blotting sheet over your oily skin gently to get rid of the shine on the go.

 

6.Wear a sunscreen every time you step out

A layer of sunblock can go a long way in shielding any dirt from clogging the pores and triggering more oil production. The right formula of sunscreen can actually reduce oil production. Go for a matte or gel based sunscreen to achieve the best results.

 

7.Minimize your makeup layers

Avoid using heavy layers of makeup like foundations and full coverage concealers as these may melt and jam your pores, worsening the situation. Replace your main formulas with tinted moisturizers or mineral powders for a fresher, shine-free time.
