Blackheads are hair follicles clogged with dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria, which upon being exposed to open air, get oxidized and turn black in colour. We know learning the science of blackheads isn’t something you might be intrigued about but it is vital to know in order to make sure it is treated correctly, whenever they occur.

Blackheads may ruin the absolute look of your face and they are most likely to pop up around the nasal openings, chin, forehead and sometimes on the apples of your cheeks. Blackheads are best-removed post a facial massage during a regular clean-up visit to the salon but we suggest you do not burn your hard-earned money for a few pops every now and then. Try any of the three blackhead preventing & removing DIY masks suggested below and thank us later.

  1.  Egg white and honey face pack

Whisk an egg white with one teaspoon of honey and apply the mixture on your face for about 15 minutes. This mild peel-off pack will latch out the gunk and shrink the pores, removing the existing blackheads and preventing the formation of more in the future. Masking with this face pack twice a week will help you get rid of blackheads permanently.

  1. Lemon juice & Baking soda scrub

Baking soda is a well-trusted natural exfoliant. It is a great ingredient to peel off the blackhead-resting surface and pull them out. Combine 2 teaspoons of baking soda with enough water to make a paste. Gently massage the mixture on your skin in circular motions focusing on the blackhead affected area for about a minute. This will remove the layer of dead skin and blackheads after a few times. Use this scrub twice a week for best results.

  1. Clay & rose water mask

Clay is the #1 ingredient to pull out excessive and trouble-causing oil. Mix a tablespoon of clay with 1 teaspoon of rose water to form a slightly runny paste. Apply it all over your face and neck as clay refreshes and cleanses the pores without causing any irritation. Use this mask every alternate day until you start seeing a visible reduction in blackheads. You can also add a drop or two of any suitable essential oil for added nourishment.
